Having problems with silverfish? You're not alone. To get rid of silverfish you will need to toss a few cloves into your drawers and wardrobes. Moreover, you can prevent ants from coming into your home by using some chalk. Simply draw a line around the house where you don't want the ants to cross, remembering to redraw the chalk line whenever it rains.

Also, if you happen to have an aquarium in your house then you can do your part for the environment by using the water that you replace to water your plants. Interestingly, aquarium water not only makes a superb fertilizer but also consists of many rich nutrients. Furthermore, you can rub cauliflower onto your silk garments to remove oil stains. Simply rub the cauliflower onto the problem areas and then brush off what's left.

Then, gently rub some more cauliflower directly onto the oil stains and let the cauliflower works its magic for an hour or two. Afterwards, remove all of the cauliflower from your silk garments by shaking the garment and then hand wash the garment. You can also toss it into your washing machine and launder the garment using a gentle machine cycle; ensuring to only use laundry detergent that is suitable for delicate materials.

What's more, if you want to prevent spiders and other arachnids from getting into your outdoor shoes (i.e., work boots, gardening shoes) and biting you then you should add some old, discarded stocking to them. Simply place them over your outdoor shoes and use a rubber band to secure them. Just make that your stockings don't have any tears or holes that spiders can hide in.

One way to cut back on your chores is to focus on areas that will receive a lot of traffic when guests are over. In other words, target areas like your main bathroom, living room, and kitchen. Other things to take care of before guests come over are to get rid of cobwebs on light fixtures, and remove dead leaves from plants. Loose baseboards should also be fitted accordingly and your significant other and children should also be asked to help. Two heads are better than one and getting your family involved in your household cleaning chores will expedite the process exponentially.

Don't forget to wash your windows until they gleam in the sunlight and remove those window screens while you're at it. In most cases simply vacuuming your window screens should have them looking like new. For tougher cases you can scrub them using some soap and water. Just ensure that they are completely dry before setting them back in place. Furthermore, you should take your window curtains and place them with your laundry. Baseboards should also be dealt with via a mop or a cloth that is damp.

Don't forget those medicine cabinets. Yes, it may seem strange that guests would want to go through your medicine cabinet but people can be nosy. It simply isn't worth the risk. To mitigate the risk and possible embarrassment remove all contents from your medicine cabinet and clean the interior thoroughly. Shower curtains may also need to be tossed into the wash, and give your bathroom a good scrub down until it gleams like new.

One thing you can do to reduce your chores is to do a load of laundry every day. If you don't have the time to do a load first thing in the morning then you can throw in a load when you come in from work. Taking this approach will cut back on your overall time spent doing laundry every week, as it will only take a few minutes a day to hang up a wash.

Also, whenever you are cooking remember to wipe counters as you cook. This way, food particles and other liquids won't have the time to harden and form stains and grime, which take far more time and elbow grease to get rid of. It will only take a minute to buff your countertops, and you will appreciate your pristine kitchen after you are done preparing your meal.

It is also imperative that you create a space for mess in your home. As it is impossible for your entire home to be perfectly immaculate it is best to set up a room, or a part of a room, for storage. Furthermore, if you have children, you should encourage your children to also use the room as well. Chances are they will probably need to use the room even more than you do so teaching them early will help them form a healthy cleanup routine when they are done playing.

While we are on the subject of children you should encourage them to help you tidy up. It is easy to become resentful when you are solely responsible for cleaning around the house, so why not get your children involved? After all, you raise, feed, and clothe them, so the least they can do is help keep the family home looking and smelling its absolute best for everybody's sake.
